Principle products included breeder stock and ostrich and emu meat, sold through the subsidiary company, Gourmet Ostrich. Responsibilities included animal and land management, financial and tax management, marketing and sales. 1988 - 1997.

Co-owner and Treasurer, Gourmet Ostrich, LLC, Pittsboro, NC. Developed financial program for meat distribution company, including computerized inventory control, invoices, disbursements and marketing. 1995 - 1997.

Chief, Forest Products Market Development Program, NC Forest Service, NC Department of Natural Resources and Community Development, Raleigh, NC. Developed State-sponsored marketing program for NC forest products. Specific initiatives included industrial recruitment of forest products companies (as a certified industrial developer), export assistance, and industrial wood energy. Early application of PC computing applications to marketing efforts. 1983 - 1985.

Senior Policy Advisor, Office of Natural Resources, NC Department of Natural Resources and Community Development (DNRCD), Raleigh NC. Senior policy and budget advisor and chief staff aide to the Assistant Secretary of Natural Resources. Responsibilities included top-level policy and budget analysis of the State’s natural resource programs, including environmental programs, forestry, parks, fisheries and coastal management. 1981 - 1983.

Director, Office of Plans and Programs, NC DNRCD, Raleigh, NC. Management of five-member staff which developed Department’s operating plans, expansion budget requests, legislative initiatives, administrative policies, program evaluation and coordination of all data processing programs. 1979 - 1981.

Program Analyst and Assistant Director, Office of Plans and Programs, NC DNRCD, Raleigh NC. Analysis of natural resource policies, plans, programs, budget requests, and legislative initiatives., 1978 - 1979.

Regional Manger, NC DNRCD. Management of North Central Regional Office, Raleigh, NC, including administrative supervision, program coordination, and public relations for regional water, air and land quality; local government assistance and economic development programs. Office housed 37 professional and 5 secretarial positions. 1975 - 1978.

Legislative Coordinator, NC Department of Natural and Economic Resources, Raleigh, NC. Liaison to the NC General Assembly and NC Congressional Delegation regarding all legislative matters affecting natural resources in North Carolina. Departmental ombudsman, and special projects coordinator for pilot NC Youth Conservation Corps program. 1973 - 1975.
